It's important for the Forum that represents your best interests to be elected to the Ward Committee and we need you to please vote for us today. We have an open-door policy and have always carried the input from our communities. Apart from being a representative body the Forum also has multiple disciplined skillset from representing businesses to communities and also special interest groups.
You will recall that the Forum was instrumental in, among other things,
- The opposition and actions taken, fundraisers and communications done, to keep the R43 open during the 2018 riots, where we raised more than R500k for security funding,
- The successful Supreme Court interdict of 8 July 2019, against the group that threatened to block the access routes, paralyze town and CBD, we also succeeded in the appeal application. The costs amounted to R230k+ which was funded from funding raised by the Forum. The interdict is permanent and prevents the specific group and individuals from henceforth blocking access routes to the town,
- Protection of the 2018 and 2019 Whale Festival organized. Funding for extra high-level visible security regularly, and constantly dealing with the necessary intel to act preventively,
- The key role in the preservation of HPP, essential creation of the new Hermanus SRA and revival of the ‘new’ HPP,
- Representation at the CPF (Community Policing Forum) as a public link,
- The involvement in the CBD, with regard to progress in the stormwater system and other upgrading actions and many exhausting meetings thereof,
- Involvement in fundraising and support of security and CCTV in Sandbaai,
- Leading involvement in creating the active CSU (community safety unit) and also the representation on that unit,
- Supporting our neighborhood watch groups,
- Continued participation and pressure to promote the Schulphoek process,
- Instrumental in efforts to revive the essential tourism element for our town and constantly look for ways to support the industry,
- The Forum web page www.wcbcf.co.za also creates an opportunity for members to list their businesses.
- The FORUM is also an essential community communication platform for sharing relevant information that can promote prompt response.
- The list of achievements and goals goes on – if you are unsure as to how to vote or would like to just talk to Barry before voting feel free to contact him on 073 388 0898
