During a meeting held on 30 January 2019, a committee was selected to establish a Joint operations centre (JOC), from where all activities of the various role players during any incident, will be coordinated. The JOC will consist of a 24 hour operations room, from where all communications (radio and social media) will be coordinated. In the event of a major incident, the commanders of the relevant services, neighbourhood watches and any other relevant role players, will convene in this centre to plan and execute their actions according to pre-planned contingency plans.
The committee is already in the process of planning the centre and will need the cooperation and generous donations of the community to set up the centre. The business plan, layout and specs of the centre as well as numerous other aspects pertaining to the centre, are currently in process, which should be completed by no later than 08 February, to enable the committee to set up the centre.
The committee chair is Louwrens Theron.
